Application Coordinator


Job Description:


Our Health System is a integrated clinical and administrative information system that is being deployed across all regions. Epic will enable us to leverage the power of our integrated delivery system to be the solution in health care that is patient-centered, safe equitable, accessible, and affordable. In order to achieve this vision, every region must fully optimize the use of this system.


The mission of the Health System Operations Department is to optimize the use of the system across the Region in order to achieve high priority goals in clinical care and business outcomes. The department does this through diligent and conscientious attention to user needs, through partnerships with National and Epic Systems in the continued development and enhancement of the system, through partnerships in the Region with, IT, and the Labor Management Partnership, and by applying medical systems to meet problem-oriented and opportunity-driven objectives.


Essential Functions:


  • Provide operational & information systems expertise in the development, training, testing, optimization and application of the Health Systems business & clinical systems to meet problem-oriented & opportunity-driven objectives
  • As the subject matter expert in a single Epic application, provide system information to regional leadership, clinicians, staff, brokers, employers, professional organizations & vendors
  • Conducts the resolution of production problems in a single systems module
  • Collaborate with work teams, departments, regional leadership, clinicians, staff, and information technology to define needs, facilitate agreements & decisions
  • Communicate changes to end users and participate in post implementation reviews
  • Assess customer needs, research options, design, test and implement application solutions
  • Help configure new features or modules for integration with installed Epic applications
  • Participate & support in relevant workflow sessions and manage resulting workflow changes
  • Perform configuration activities in Epic system to resolve problems escalated to the Health Systems Operations department
  • Set up & test configuration modifications and enhancement
  • Build, maintain and update application master files and category lists to ensure data integrity and maintain synchronization with weekly collaborative updates
  • On call rotation for 24x7 support
  • Responsible for solving production incident support/ patient safety issues under stressful outage situations
  • To sustain efficient current & future functionality, support operational and information system expertise for new version upgrades, optimization of current functionality, and incorporation of new modules in the Health Systems business and clinical systems
  • As the subject matter expert, test system changes, review training materials, assess workflow impact and solutions, and support deployments
  • Support test script development, test data validation, test results analysis, defect and problem resolution and identification of problem fix
  • Review, analyze and recommend implementation of release notes as received from Epic Systems
  • Analyze change requests for impact of change and costs
  • Communicate changes to business partners and assist with implementation of change

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in health care administration, information systems, business, a health care profession, library science, or information resource management
  • Epic Certification required (May be obtained on-the-job within 6 months of hire date)
  • Professional RN Licensure
  • Demonstrated skills in project management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams through influence and collaboration
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications in business settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience
  • 3 years experience using at least one of the Epic suite of application products or completion of Epic certification in an application(s)
  • Advanced degree in medical informatics, computer science or a related health care field
  • Direct experience implementing business information systems in the Northwest region
  • Knowledge of functional areas and/ or systems analysis
  • Knowledge of research and analyses /design
  • Demonstrated experience leading a large multidisciplinary project to successful completion
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution
  • Public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated experience with office software, e.g., Power Point, Excel, Word and/or MS Project, Visio
