Deputy CIO Clinical Research Informatics


Job Summary:


The Deputy CIO/Associate Chief Information Officer for Research Informatics and Healthcare Exchange will jointly report to the chief information officer (CIO) and vice provost for Information Technology Services and the CIO for University Health. The incumbent will be responsible for leading and establishing a shared vision for the information technology infrastructure for the for the health system California i.e., the health science campus and University Park Campus. The incumbent will work in collaboration with IT leaders from the university and medical community to develop a strategic plan for an integrated information technology infrastructure. The deputy CIO will work in close collaboration with the associate CIO for information technology at UPC to ensure that the information technology infrastructure is responsive to the clinical and research requirements of the university health enterprise. The deputy CIO will serve as the convener, facilitator of the information technology infrastructure advisory committee, serve as an ex-officio member of the strategic technology forum (STF); and the provost and academic senate's joint committee on information services (CIS).


Within the health sciences domain, the deputy CIO will be responsible for architecting those network, physical infrastructure, policy and process elements that support a secure interface for leveraging clinical and personally identifiable information to support not only healthcare information exchange but also the reuse of data in clinical research. In collaboration with informatics leaders throughout the School of Medicine and University Park campus, the incumbent will assist in the creation of data stewardship models and promote methodologies that assist research faculty in determining informatics needs as part of grant submission. The deputy CIO will also advise and consult departmental information technology resources on best practices of system implementation for enterprise research applications such as clinical trials management and biorepository software.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field. Master's preferred
